both similar and contrasting to my improvised work "a muse in standing,” this composed-out piece was written with the intention of providing a space of peace and emotional release for both myself as a performer and for those listening. this urge to “break away” comes out of that global moment of lockdown that took place in 2020, in hopes of shifting into a new way of being—not a return to “normal” but with a heightened sense of empathy and dissatisfaction with current modes of operating.
